Iceland Design Centre takes over new headquarters on Aðalstræti 2 in the heart of Kvosin, the oldest part of downtown Reykjavik.
Run in collaboration with the City of Reykjavik, the new Iceland Design Centre headquarters on Aðalstræti 2 will serve as a home for all fields of design in Reykjavik and a meeting place for Icelandic designers and everybody else interested in design.
The collaboration aims to further develop the Icelandic design and architecture industries and their importance and relevance in creating financial gain in the capital city. In addition, we hope to increase the interest in and the understanding of the importance of design and architecture for the city and the society at large.
According to the City of Reykjavik, “A new central location for the
Iceland Design Centre promotes Reykjavik as a creative city and
strengthens the position of design right in the heart of the capital.”
What We Do
Iceland Design Centre is an information center for Icelandic design and architecture both locally and internationally. Our main task is to increase understanding of the importance of design for the society and economy, and it’s ability to contribute to creating value.
Iceland Design Centre promotes all fields of Icelandic design abroad. The international market holds great opportunities and a huge potential for the local designers.
Iceland Design Centre has already moved to the new premises. It is open from 9 AM until 5 PM from Monday to Friday.
