Studio Brynjar & Veronika revealed their 2016 Swarovski Designers of the Future Award commissions at Design Miami/Basel 2016. In addition, a sofa table by them is exhibited at Galerie Kreo’s stand.
Studio Brynjar & Veronika were chosen as one of the three 2016 Swarovski Designers of the Future Award winners at Maison & Objet Paris earlier this year. Their commissioned award pieces were revealed at Design Miami/Basel.
Brynjar and Veronika introduced three pieces collectively titled Currents.
Playing with the interaction between crystals and light, their fully functioning blind includes 30 specially created prismic slats that produces rainbow patterns when struck by light. Their decorative crystal sticks that cast coloured shadows, and they also showed an arrangement of liquid-seeming crystal tiles made using a 3D scan of water.
Now in its ninth year, the Designers of the Future Award gives up-and-coming designers the opportunity to create innovative new works. All of the designers visited Swarovski's historical base in Wattens, Austria, and were given access to the crystal manufacturer's archives, design teams and technology development programs.
In addition, the acclaimed design gallery Kreo exhibits at Design Miami/Basel, and their stand sG06 also includes a sofa table by Studio Brynjar & Veronika alongside works by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Pierre Charpin, Konstantin Grcic, Jaime Hayon and Hella Jongerius, to name a few.
