Elections 2013 | Design and Architecture

Representatives of all political parties are invited to bring forward their views on design and architecture in a discussion held in Reykjavik Art Museum on April 18 at 20. The first national design policy for Iceland was approved on March 12 and will serve as a basis for the discussion. The discussion is part of the monthly lecture series organized by Iceland Design Centre in collaboration with Iceland Academy of the Arts and Reykjavik Art Museum. Discussion language is Icelandic. .

THE FOURTH REYKJAVIK FASHION FESTIVAL

Reykjavík, IS (March 18th, 2013) - The fourth edition of the Reykjavík Fashion Festival (RFF) was held in Iceland from March 14th to 16th in conjunction with the renowned Icelandic design festival: DesignMarch. Seven Icelandic fashion designers that are known for their diverse styles, boldness and creativity showcased their A/W collections at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik on March 16th. .

Talk series | Miwon Kwon – Ends of the Earth (and Back)

Miwon Kwon, curator and architect will give a lecture, tonight Thursday the 21 March 8 p.m., in the Reykjavik Art Museum, Hafnarhús. Titled Ends of the Earth (and Back) the lecture presents the exhibition “Ends of the Earth: Land Art to 1974” which she co-curated for Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles in 2012. The exhibition, comprised of over 200 works by more than eighty artists, presents a revision of the history of Land Art and refers to the work of Robert Smithson which is currently on show at Reykjavík Art Museum. meira

DesignTalks: on the magic of creativity

DesignTalks: on the magic of creativity will be held on the first day of DesignMarch the 14th of March in the The National Theatre of Iceland. The speakers are: Inge Druckrey, professor and designer acclaimed for her work in teaching the art of seeing, Maja Kuzmanovic and Nik Gaffney founders of FoAM, designers and multidisciplinary team leaders, Juliet Kinchin, design and architecture curator at MoMA, Museum of Modern art, New York and Mark Eley and Wakiko Kishimoto, founders of fashion label Eley Kishimoto. Designers movies in Bio Paradis during DesignMarch

Two movies will be shown in Bio Paradis, Reykjavik in connection with DesignMarch; a movie directed by Paola Suhonen, the founder and lead designer of the Finnish fashion company Ivana Helsinki and the documentary Teaching to See about Inge Druckrey who has over forty years of experience as a graphic designer.
