The most exciting festival of the year, DesignMarch, is next week. The program is packed with creative and fun events, with well over a hundred exhibitions and openings and even more participants!

The sweet harbinger of spring, the most fun festival of the year and the harvest of Icelandic design is ahead, as DesignMarch takes place from April 2nd to 5th. Icelandic design in its most diverse form takes the stage as usual, with over hundred events and exhibitions this year and even more participants. Architecture, artifacts, fashion, product design, experiences, and much more will be on offer throughout the greater capital area, although the vast majority of the program is in downtown Reykjavík.

Lina Ghotmeh leads her practice Lina Ghotmeh — Lina Ghotmeh Architecture. Echoing her lived experience in Beirut – a palimpsest of unrest – her designs are orchestrated as an “Archeology of the Future” where every project emerges materially sensitive and in symbiosis with nature. DesignTalks takes place on the 2nd of April in Harpa, Reykjavik with the theme of The Source.

DesignMarch 2025 takes place on April 2 - 6, for the seventeenth year in a row, and now with a new brand identity and visuals, designed by the creative agency Strik Studio.

Want to explore the new possibilities of clay in architecture and design? OPEN CALL for a 5-day ceramic workshop. Participants will work with clay sourced from both the Świętokrzyskie region in Poland and Iceland. Children and city planning (Börnin að borðinu), by the interdisciplinary design team Þykjó is the winner in the category Project at the Icelandic Design Awards 2024 for capturing children's ideas and converting them into an action with the aim to give them voice and mobilize them to influence.

Designer Fernando Laposse will be speaking at DesignTalks, taking place on the 2nd of April, with the theme of The Source.

The office of Iceland Design and Architecture closes due to summer holidays from July 15th but will reopen on Tuesday, August 6th.

The Icelandic Design Award has opened for suggestions and everybody can send in suggestions, your own work or others until midnight September 4th. The goal of sending in suggestions is to ensure that excellent work does not pass by the jury, and therefore we encourage owners of good works to nominate their own work.

The Icelandic designcompany FÓLK participates in the danish design festival 3daysofdesign with the exhibition Circular Landscapes, which speaks to the core of the company focusing on sustainable and circular design.

The signature event of DesignMarch, international conference DesignTalks, took place in Harpa on 24th of April. The programme of the day was diverse were the circus spirit was all around and tackled the challenges of today with amazing speaker from all around the world who gave inspiration with their knowledge seeking solutions.
