DesignMarch 2011

Bringing the awakening of spring and the growth in Icelandic design, we are proud to present the third annual DesignMarch taking place in Reykjavík, Iceland this week.

Featuring Iceland´s internationally renowned veterans in the field as well as fledgling upcoming designers, the program of this year´s DesignMarch includes a wide range of exciting events, exhibitions and lectures. The festival presents design playing a fundamental role in these times of great change.


To mention but a few of more than a hundred events; an installation by Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir aka Shoplifter at the Museum of Design and Applied Art, Vík Prjónsdóttir’s scarves factory, 10+ furniture exhibition with over 30 new Icelandic furniture designs, Mixture of fashion forces, Icelandic Display Typeface Design, Scintillas new collection of home textiles, Mundi´s next collection, installation by KRADS architects, launching of a skyr confectionary tower and Sruli Rechts, When Gravity Fails.

On this year’s DesignMarch opening day, Thursday March 24th, the Iceland Design Center hosts a series of lectures and panel discussion. We are proud to welcome Berlin based designer Jerszy Seymour, Dutch architect Winy Maas and Icelandic designer Siggi Eggertsson along with Finnish designer Ilkka Suppanen to participate in a discussion highlighting design in times of changes.
