Marcus Fairs, educated in
furniture design, started his career as a journalist with newspapers and
magazines such as Blueprint, The Guardian, The Independent on Sunday and Condé
Nast Traveller. He established Icon, an international magazine on architecture
and design in 2003 and was its editor until November 2006. Under his
stewardship the magazine became one of the most influential and respected
design magazines, scooping up numerous awards. Fairs, who himself has received
